Santa Fe, New Mexico
The "City Different" |
|
|
|
|

Originally founded by the Pueblo Native Americans
and later settled by Mexicans, Native Americans and Spanish legions,
Santa Fe still offers a wide variety of historic and very interesting
buildings. Santa Fe is home to various building styles. Many of those
can be seen in the downtown area.

The Plaza is the center of Santa Fe for more than
400 years now. And that's where you'll find the world famous "La
Fonda" hotel which was first mentioned in 1820 when it was used as
a saloon and brothel. And the "Governor's Mansion" should be
visited by every tourist.

For those who enjoy museums Santa Fe has a lot to
offer. Visit the "Palace of the Governors" which was built in
1610 and has various documents on display about the interesting Santa Fe
and New Mexican history.

And then there is the "Loretto
Chapel". Built in 1870 it is said to be the first Gothic building
west of the Mississippi. And it has a mystic past. Shortly after
construction was completed a staircase was needed to give access to the
choir's loft area. Mysteriously, a carpenter showed up some day with a
donkey carrying his tools. And he built a staircase for the chapel. And
the mystical part of it is that the staircase has no center support, and
spirals through two complete 360-degree turns and 33 steps.

And as mysterious as the carpenter arrived, he left
one day with his tools and donkey and without pay.

And what would Santa Fe be without the world famous
jewelry and art galleries.

Small and large shops are nestled in Adobe style
retail buildings all over Santa Fe. But don't be fooled by their
simplicity. Many actors, movie stars, the rich and famous as well as
tourists from all over the world are flocking to Santa Fe to stock up on
the newest fashion trends and one-of-a-kind jewelry by local Santa Fe
artists. And one of the most important galleries is "Bead
Different". Located on 227 Don Gaspar in the Santa Fe Village
Shopping Center it is a well-known destination for those looking for the
unique jewelry designs of famous Santa Fe artist Mary Adrian.

Santa Fe is a unique and desirable city when it
comes to beaded jewelry. Not just the turquoise jewelry offered by
stores and Native American vendors but a variety of interesting and new
creations are featured by the best designers America has to offer. And
besides that, Bead Different for example offers the Nations largest
selection of Memory Wire Jewelry.

There is a lot to see in Santa Fe. When you come
for a visit make sure you will stay at least for two full days. There is
so much to see. The city invites you to stroll around the town, shop at
the art galleries and sit in street cafes so that you can experience
America's Wild West a little different in the city they call the
"City Different".

Santa Fe has something to offer for everybody.
Leave your stress at home and relax in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA.
